After all too many years of planning, the very first in a series of cryptozoological wonders has been completed and is now available as an 8 piece, all resin model kit. I bring you: The Loch Ness Monster, Scotland's most famous mystery animal and perhaps the most well known of all cryptids.
This is the first in a series that I call "Crypto Legends" which will grow to a proposed line of twelve different sculptures spotlighting some of the most elusive and unusual creatures that have been witnessed around the globe.
Each animal in this series has been researched by me for decades utilizing all means of printed, audio and film reference including dozens of books, magazines, newspaper articles, video documentaries, radio reports and interviews and in some cases personal interviews with actual eyewitnesses. I have in all cases attempted to weigh the information from every source and extract only the most reputable accounts and descriptions in order to conceptualize my final designs for the beasts. What remains vague still after piecing trustworthy details together, I have attempted to fill in with my imagination. In any event the majority of what I am presenting is not a splash of pure whimsy but rather a sincere attempt to present an accurate portrayal of creatures often encountered but not yet accepted as real by the scientific community.
The kits are presented in a "desk top" size so that they are not overpowering and yet not insignificant for display. Not all the creatures will have a continuity of scale thru out the line as very small or large beasts I feel would force some depictions to extreme dimensions and price ranges. I am rather offering a line that will feel consistent in overall mass and price them accordingly.
This series will not find completion overnight but my intent is to work on one creature at a time and release it as a model kit when it is ready. These creations are not intended to be churned out at break neck speed but perhaps one every few months with as much attention to detail and design as the subject demands.
As with the Loch Ness Monster, each new creature will be presented in a location specific environment with base terrain and scattered elements to establish a sense of the animal's true scale.
Additionally the sub-base beneath the terrain will act as the introduction of not only the most common name given the beast, but also it's nickname and several other less common, local or traditional names.
Welcome to the world of the "Crypto Legends"!
